Session One: January 17, 2018 - Course Overview & Chapter One

A. Pre-Assessment Technology Survey
Complete the technology survey to provide information on your current technology skills.

B. MailVU Video Message
Create a five-minute MailVU video message introducing yourself, why you want to become a teacher, and your goals for Pre-Residency II. This will require you to have access to a computer with a camera and microphone. Send your message to my email account: nkendall@tnstate.edu OR kendallnm@gmail.com You will receive a reply from me, if this task is completed successfully.

*Note: Make sure that you complete outside readings, as you will be responsible for discussing and demonstrating concepts in class laboratory and take-home projects.

Session Two: January 24, 2018 - Designing and Assessing 21st Century Learning

1. Case Study: Cellphones: A Tool for Cheating
Respond to the four (4) discussion questions regarding Laura and Jessica. Make sure you incorporate any background and/or supporting research in your answers---cited appropriately in APA format. *A minimum of 5 external sources required (from within the last 5 years -- 2011 until present).

Reading Assignment:
Review TN Curriculum and 2017 ISTE Student Standards. Consider at least two (2) topics in your designated grade/subject area from THIS class.

Session Three: January 31, 2018 - Designing 21st Century Learning (continued)

2. Unit Rationale
As a future educator, you need to decide a focus topic for this course. Please go to the Tennessee Department of Education site to review curriculum standards. Before you select a unit of study, consider what students would be learning during this time of the year, prior skills that tie into your unit, and learning outcomes. Your proposal should address four (4) key components: the problem, learner, society, and subject matter.

3. Wordle
Wordle is a tool for generating "word clouds" from key words and themes that you provide. Create a visual mural to support the essential concepts of your unit. Use at least fifteen (15) words that connect to your curriculum topic. In your email, provide the SOURCE(S) of wher you acquired your academic terms. *Refer to Wordle presentation to learn how to handle hypenated or two-word phrases.

Session Four: February 7, 2018 - Designing 21st Century Learning Environments

4. NearPod Digital Lesson
You will create a digital presentation that supports your unit/unit rationale. This instructional experience your adhere to the NearPod guidelines of education and engagement for your student audience.
